Oh To Be Free..

lana

Have you ever felt like you were born in the wrong place, the wrong era, the wrong time?!? Like the people around you, the people in the space that you exist in just do not understand the workings of your brain, your heart your soul, your every being?

Like you are just not living the life that you should? Like there is a greater purpose and you are just wasting your time with the current life that you are living?

Maybe like, dare I say, you just don’t belong? Cliche I know but I have no other way to put it..

Like you are living for everyone else but yourself, living a lie, day in and day out pretending to be someone that you aren’t just to please the people around you, to make them happy, content, comfortable with the you that you are parading around. Just so they would not feel weary, uncomfortable with the real you. The weird you. The you that you hide from the rest of the world?!

Like anything that you say just sounds wrong, your ideas about the world, people, life are not acceptable?! Even though in your hearts of hearts they feel so damn right?!

Sometimes I feel like i’m losing my mind. Going absolutely bonkers. Just because I feel so trapped, like a tiger in a cage, just waiting for the chance to finally break free and go wild, be me…

But then, then you meet that one person, or you see them on TV, or online, or hear that one song, that just gets you you know? That just describes you to a T.. And then you don’t feel so alone anymore..

Like there could be hope, somewhere, out there in this vast, great, big earth, that you will finally be home.. Finally find your people. Finally live, and not just exist, taking everyday as it comes?… For me that person, that song, that moment was when I discovered Lana Del Rey. And my all time favorite song of hers is ¬†Ride.

I cant wait for that day when i’m finally free of all these flippin, ooh hell we are all adults here, fucking shackles.. And I can freely from the society, from the expectations..free to be me… ūüôā

*sigh* I know I must sound like a blabbering idiot, but I just wanted to let out my feelings in an environment that I know I won’t be too harshly judged for my craziness and all around oddness..

International Women’s Day

A woman is beauty..

A woman is strength..

A woman is power..

A woman is hope..

A woman is love..

A woman is the future..

woman

Today is International women’s day,¬†International Women’s Day¬†(IWD), originally called¬†International Working Women’s Day, is marked on March 8¬†every year.¬†In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.

In many parts of the world women are abused, treated like second class citizens  raped, and just plain disrespected and not loved the way they are supposed to be.

On this International Women’s Day let women embrace themselves in multiple identities and complexities. Each of us embodies many realities all at the same time. The same woman who may be raped is also a mother, a professional worker, a migrant labourer, or‚Ķ. None of our issues should be singularised although there are times they need priority.

This said, it is time in 2013 to recognise us as a sexual class across the globe. Women as a sexual class inhabit the diverse politics of living in a female body with its many colours, races, genders and classes. As such this sexual class is not unitary, but rather poly-versally united.

International Women’s Day started in the early 1900s – mostly by Socialist Parties to recognise the paid “work” of women. The Soviet Union was famous for its rhetoric of “sexual equality”, while demanding triple days of labour from its women. Today, women across the globe work for wages as teachers, soldiers, civilians, warriors, doctors, nurses, medical-aides, lawyers, paralegals, domestic labourers, cooks, sex-workers, chefs, janitors, migrants and more.

These women are also daughters mothers, sisters, wives, partners, single, gay, straight, trans, rich, poor, middle class, slum-dwellers and homeless – while struggling and achieving – with cancer and without cancer; with AIDS and without AIDS; disabled or fully abled; in war zones and not. They come in all colours and design. No woman is ever simply/singularly female, but it is always of consequence that she is.

Common struggles

Women – in all their cacophonous variety have enormous potential power as labourers, child-bearers and child-rearers, and sustainers of everyday life. Patriarchy and misogyny struggle to control and contain this power.

int

If women were not as powerful as they also are sometimes powerless, we would simply be ignored. Instead, we are wrapped in blue cloth from head to toe, we are kept away from education, we are controlled to use right to divorce and right to control our bodies – abortion and contraception – only because those who dominate us fear our potential power and creativity; glass and cement ceilings keep us curtailed. You do not bother oppressing those who do little and are only capable of less.

Women are bound together by what they share, and also often pulled apart by their differences. Yet, there are common struggles: against sexual violence, for daycare and child-care supports; against unequal pay and for an end to sexual ghettos. Commonality does not require sameness.

In other words, women, in all their¬†inter sectional¬†diversity and individuality, must be¬†recognized¬†as a sexual class across racial and economic divides, with shared interests in order to be treated with full humanity. The women in Tahrir Square and in the streets of Tunisia demanded their human rights for themselves and all Egyptians and Tunisians alike. Their female bodies spoke of their sexual status, while they claimed their poly and universal rights to occupy the public streets. They chose not to be defined simply by their sexual status, but to claim that women’s rights are human rights.

Embrace women and girls – their bodies, their¬†labor¬† their love, their “civilian” suffering in war, their hauling of water, their gathering of wood, their amazing creativity, their planting of trees, their protection of the environment, their stand against fracking, their fight to maintain abortion rights and other reproductive freedoms, their bravery in public and private spaces – anywhere and everywhere across this globe.

World Aids Day!!

As I wake up this morning i make it a point to let everyone know what today is. I have realized that it is in the society that i live in that no one care about educating themselves on this crucial matter, they live life( ignorantly thinking it does not concern them) day to day having unprotected sex, selling their bodies for not more than 20 buck even some of the doctors attempt to use the same needle on different patients *gasp*! So here is my little piece of encouragement and enlightenment for all who might be oblivious to this matter.

world

World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.

UNAIDS took the lead on World AIDS Day campaigning from its creation until 2004. From 2004 onwards the World AIDS Campaign’s Global Steering Committee began selecting a theme for World AIDS Day in consultation with civil society, organisations and government agencies involved in the AIDS response.

Themes run for one or two years and are not just specific to World AIDS Day. Campaigning slogans such as ‚ÄėStop AIDS. Keep the Promise‚Äô have been used year round to hold governments accountable for their HIV and AIDS related commitments.

It is such a shame to see that the people around me, people in my environment do not even know the symptoms of AIDS, they do not even know it is contracted, they just believe its a disease for homosexuals(yes still on that train) or for bad people, or even for non-Muslims(i live in a Muslim country, Malaysia and i’m surrounded by Arabs, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and of course Malaysians). It even hurts me more when they stupidly believe only Africans have AIDS( I mean what kind of fucked up ridiculousness is this!!).

Anyway, on this day i hope we an all learn a little bit more about this pandemic and educate as well as protect ourselves.

Animal Protection In Malaysia..

Over the last 4 years that i have been a student in Malaysia i have been witness to a wide variety of animal abuse here. And don’t¬† get me wrong, i’m not saying this is the only country where animals are abused, but it is one of the countries which do not necessarily have strong laws against such acts of abuses and the little laws that do exist are rarely ever enforced.

*Disclaimer: The videos in the links might be hard to watch..

2 weeks ago a horrifying video of 2 Somali students throwing a small helpless puppy into a manhole surfaced and caused an up raw among the students and all people living amongst these monsters. To see the video you can go to the link below..

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150981962112135

The Somalian student was entrusted by his friend to care for his puppy during his absence as he went on vacation to his home country(Jordan), the guy trusted with taking care of the puppy threw it into a manhole with the help of another perpetrator while a third man recorded it on his phone as they laughed, joked and enjoyed the themselves while torturing it..Having left Malaysia in June for a month-long holiday, Mostafa entrusted his Somalian friend Mohamad Hasan to care for Kanilla in his absence.

The story was reported as it shows below on a single small space in a newspaper:

‚ÄúOn Mostafa‚Äôs return, Mohamad told the former that Kanilla had gone missing,‚ÄĚ said Shenaaz.
However, Shenaaz said that another friend of Mostafa had downloaded a video showing Mohamad and another Somalian, Ahmad Subair Addirahman Mohamoud, throwing the docile mutt into a manhole. The duo are said to be students at the Malaysian Multimedia University (MMU).
Shenaaz said that Mostafa had lodged a police report on the matter at the Cyberjaya police station three days ago. She urged the authorities to take action against the Somalians and claimed the duo had threatened Mostafa for making the report.
‚ÄúThe duo threatened Mostafa for putting the picture clippings of their heinous act on Facebook,‚ÄĚ she alleged.‚ÄėTake immediate action‚Äô
FMT checked the video which runs for 1 minute 50 seconds, showing Subair holding the puppy while Mohamad hurled profanities before throwing the dog.
An unknown cameraman told the duo, ‚ÄúOkay, hurry up. Just do it and then we run like nothing happened.‚ÄĚ
Later, Mohamad faced the camera and said, ‚ÄúF‚Ķ this dog. This b‚Ķ. is dead.‚ÄĚ
The duo then threw Kanilla into the manhole and ran away while laughing.
The duo’s act drew ire from Facebook’s users, with many calling for the police to take immediate action against the Somalians.

Now the boys have effectively disappeared, dis-activating their facebook accounts and also moving out from the apartments they used to live in in the Cyberjaya area. This story hurt me dearly, i hate it when i see poor helpless creatures being hurt by us humans just because we are somewhat stronger and they are at our mercy. Of course as with all situations we as humans always have to lose perspective and start making the issue what it isnt, people started bringing up the race card( saying its because they are black, calling them f’ing n****), and then they brought up the religion card( saying these guys are brutal because they are muslims, which has nothing to do with the situation what-so ever)

Now the one bad thing is that the authorities where told here in Malaysia but nothing was done, which isn’t really much of a surprise, nothing is ever done here. It is the same situation as the video where a Chinese man was abusing a small cute poodle because he wanted it to stand on its hind legs and when it wouldnt he slapped it around( ridiculous i know :-/ )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP08cn-IsbQ&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fresults%3Fsearch_query%3Dchinese%2Bman%2Babuses%2Ba%2Bpoodle

It is not only house pets being abused, also animals in zoos, just as there was a story where a tiger was starved and abused for months just so that it can be dormant and lifeless for people to take pictures with them. I just wish laws in this country could be modified and changed to actually protect animals, not just to “pretend to protect the animals..

I ranted a bit i know.. but i just had to let it out.. ūüôā I mean look at this face, who would ever want to hurt it.. ?? :-/

FOR SHAME MALAYSIANS, FOR SHAME!!!!

Notice: this might be offensive to some people, but if you know you are not like this then please know it does not have anything to do with you..( and im not saying all Malaysians are like this, im just stating my own experiences here and the forum says it all!!!! the proof is in the forum!!)

For shame Malaysians, for shame, how dare you open a thread on a forum just so that you can bitch and moan about foreign students!!! wooww!!! To say you guys are racist, annoying, uninformed, dumb is an understatement.
I found a forum where Malaysians go to complain about international students ruining their country.. The link is below
So its a pretty long list of dumb comments on this, so i will summarize the worst of all.. This is what started the whole debate..
Dear all,
I wish to alert all potential investor/buyer to avoid below condos/apartments which are flooded by tons of foreign students (especially African). These are only I know but I believe there are many more….please share your knowledge as well.
Cyberjaya¬†–¬†Cyberia townhouse and Crescent, Cyber Heights Villa, Domain
Puchong¬†–¬†Desa Millennia, Desa Idaman, Desa Impiana, Koi Tropika, Some apartments in Bandar Puteri, Koi Kinrara, Koi Legion, Heron Residency
Subang¬†–¬†USJ One Avenue, Casa Subang, Impian Meridian, Suriamas, Ridzuan, Subang Avenue, Casa Tiara, E-Tiara, Lagoon Perdana, Springvilla condominium, Summervilla, Boulevard, Rhythm Avenue
PJ¬†–¬†Casa Tropicana Condo, Metropolitan Square Condo, COVA SUITE, Riana Green, Flora Damansara
Cheras¬†–¬†Condo Angkasa, Seri Cendekia Condo, Venice Hill¬†
Bukit Jalil¬†–¬†Vista commonwealth, Arena Green¬†
Others¬†–¬†Taman Melati – Platinum Hill projects (filled with them), Setiawangsa – Seri Maya (overflowing), Sri Rampai – Desa Putra Condos (signs are beginning), Titiwangsa Sentral, Kepong Metro Prima, Tmn Tun – Desa Kiara Condo, Seri Kembangan Juta Mine condo
So basically apparently when it comes to real estate and development in Malaysia if a foreigner, especially African or middle easten stays in an apartment, it depreciates!! Dumb ignorant people!!!
Below are some of the comments which really pissed me off
1. because their country is rich with diamond, gold and oil, Malaysia government is envy their arrival here for education to boost the dollar income. If you want to stop this flooding once and for all, make sure you know who to vote for in next GE. Bijan is just another stupid space goat for BN.
Listen your government is doing all Malaysians a favor by bringing students here to study because it boosts your economy, frankly without Foreigners Malaysia would be nothing because you are a lazy and selfish people who do not wish to work hard, or even to think of ways to improve your country!!
2.Tht’s the problem with Condominium. And they seems conquer all the condominium/Apartment/Flat..
Believe me when i tell you, no international student wants to stay and work in this country when we finish with our studies.. We want to be out of here the day we are done!!
3.spoke to a lecturer from MMU.. man.. not only curly hair, those from ME also cant study well here and brought down the standard of the uni.. more than half of the class fail.. and the are the majority in IT classes.
Which ever lecture you talked to must be as uneducated and as racist as you because Malays are the one who stay in MMU for long periods of time without finishing, and the university standard does not have anything to do with international students.
4. If like that everywhere oso hv to avoid lor except the high end condos like klcc, mk and dpc. Else, the negros and MEs are everywhere.
This is just plain racism in its very severety!! How would you guys feel if someone called you banana, or bug eater or budhahead or dog-muncher or anyone of these bad racial slurs!!!
It is never OK to call someone by a degrading name, regardless of what you think of them. We are all people, we are all human, and the fact is foreigners make Malaysia better, without foreigners here the real estate market would plummet because there would be no students to rent the houses owned by the Malays and they would make loses. Without students here there would be no new apartment structures being built and developing the country!! And if you do not want to live near foreigners anyway then why come to a city ( Cyberjaya) which was built specifically for students??
In all of my life i have never been around people who are so ignorant, close minded, infuriatingly racist towards all other nations, lazy and freakeshly dumb and uneducated about other cultures !!!!
But then again we can not change or improve you people, i mean what do you expect from a Nation which can not even come together and keep racism alive between them. All you Malaysians(Malays, Chinese and Indians ) hate each other because of your race, skin color or even religion, you are a lost cause and there is no hope for you in the future to be an open minded, non prejudiced, educated and loving nation!!!

Prophets In The 21st Century?? Yay Or Nay??

I have been seeing a lot of stories on the news and generally around places I live in, of men claiming to be prophets and saying that they have been sent by god to lead humans and to show people the correct way of worshiping. And these stories always end up the same, the men are always con men, perverts, rapists, child molesters or just your typical egomaniac wanting some attention. They tell people that god wants them to sleep with small kids, marry 20 or so women and children, they say god wants people to give them tons of money or some other crap like that.
I truly do not understand how people( and it is usually well educated, middle to high class people) can fall for these fools. How can you possibly believe that a random person like you, who is clearly conning you, is sent by god as a prophet?!

Are we so desperate to find god or to want to believe so much so that we let these people fool us? Do we really need that much proof for us to have some faith??

Utter Ridiculousness

Today i saw a debate in another blog which might be a little bit controversial because it talks about the two reasons that make people hate each other around the world day in and day out. RELIGION and RACE!! So ill try to be as¬†sensitive, unattached¬†and objective as i possibly can. So basically the gist of the debate was ” what race ( or skin¬†color) was Jesus¬†Christ( the christian prophet). I¬†don’t¬†really understand the¬†obsession¬†that the world has with trying to figure this out, does it really matter??? Because frankly to me it makes no difference and it has been stated that he was born in¬†Bethlehem¬†meaning that if we were to really look at this race wise then it means he was of middle¬†eastern¬†descent( that is he was¬†Arab). This will probably piss many people off since right now the most hated race in the world is Arabs ( because of the alleged suicide bombing and Islam that is( no offence to middle¬†Eastern¬†or¬†Muslims)) Some people say he was white(¬†Caucasian) or black (¬†African) which in all honesty is¬†ridiculous. Why do we have to be so concerned about what skin color he was, is all that the world cares about skin color, does it make him any less prophetic if he was a race we dont particularly like? This is the kind of discussion that escalates¬†racism¬†and hate around our lives.

Why cant we just believe what is written in the holy books and love each other and live in peace regardless of what race we are??
